Headteachers Welcome 

Fort Royal is a community primary special school in the heart of Worcester, providing a nurturing, inclusive, and ambitious learning environment for children with a wide range of special educational needs. 

To attend Fort Royal School, a child must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that identifies the need for a specialist school placement. We are proud to support children with a range of complex additional needs from across Worcestershire, helping every child to achieve their full potential. 

At the heart of our school is our ethos Play, Learn, Laugh and Succeed. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and engaged. Through meaningful learning experiences, positive relationships, and a focus on wellbeing, we create an environment where every child can flourish. 

We are committed to being a trauma-informed school, recognising that children may experience challenges that impact their development, communication, and learning. Our staff are trained to understand and respond to individual needs with compassion, consistency, and care, ensuring that pupils feel secure, respected, and ready to learn. 

We provide a highly supportive environment with experienced staff, strong safeguarding practices, and personalised approaches that help pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence. 

The school is organised into four phases: Early Years, Key Stage One, Lower Key Stage Two, and Upper Key Stage Two. We offer personalised learning and tailored support to meet each child's unique needs and aspirations. 

Working closely with families and a range of specialist professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Family Support Workers, School Nurses, and Social Workers, we ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive. 

Our excellent facilities include specialist sensory and active learning spaces, a hydrotherapy pool and extensive outdoor learning environments that enrich learning and promote wellbeing.
