We are a community primary special school situated in the heart of the city of Worcester. Thank you for taking the time to look through our website. I hope you will enjoy the experience and are able to gain an insight into the life of our school.

We are a very dedicated and enthusiastic team who are committed to providing the best possible education and care. We also develop independence and social awareness in our wonderful pupils to prepare them for productive and successful lives.

The school is organised into departments;  Early Years, Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2. Each phase has a distinctive curriculum and ethos which allows for progression through the school. A member of the Senior Leadership Team coordinates and leads each department. In all, we have 24 classes each with teaching team consisting of a teacher, a lead teaching assistant and at least 2 other teaching assistants.

In our part of the County, we are proud to be a school for all pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan that identifies a specialist placement is required. Our class groups contain a broad range of needs as our philosophy is not to organise pupils by category of need or ability so all classes have between 9 and 11 pupils of mixed abilities, which we feel works really well and benefits all pupils. Our staff to child ratio allows for small group and individual work in each class as required.

We are supported by a range of other professionals who have a base in school. These include Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a family support worker, a School Nurse and a Social Worker. We are also supported by an effective Governing Body who bring their particular skills and experience to benefit the pupils. All these professionals make an essential contribution to the school and to pupils’ individual programmes. We have many links with our local community and are fortunate to have an active Friends of Fort Royal group who organise many social and fundraising events. We have fantastic facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, specialist sensory areas and some exceptional and extensive outdoor learning environments both within the school grounds and attached to individual classes.

If you wish to come and view our school then please contact the school office who will be happy to assist you.
