Dear Parents and Carers, I am extremely pleased and proud to announce that the school has achieved the Signalong Gold Award. This is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the enthusiasm, talent and hard work of everyone involved. Many thanks go to Steph and the other Signalong tutors for leading us to this wonderful achievement.
The children thoroughly enjoyed our Eco Day on Wednesday. We welcomed an Eco visitor from the council, who led a range of engaging workshops and hands-on activities for the pupils, including sorting and learning about recycling materials. In the afternoon, a recycling lorry visited the school and the children had the exciting opportunity to explore it up close — including sitting in the cab and sounding the horn repeatedly just outside my office window!
Some pupils in Key Stage 1 also enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Sensory Cinema in Malvern. We are delighted that, during Arts Week next week, the cinema team will be bringing the sensory cinema experience into school so that children who were unable to travel to Malvern can enjoy the same wonderful opportunity here at Fort Royal.
Finally, we hope to see many of you at our Summer Fun Day on Saturday 27th June. Please remember to bring your cash and your sunhats, and join us for what promises to be a fantastic day for the whole school community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support

Within maths, we have been exploring measure through length and height. We have used a variety of resources, and some children have explored the school to identify short and long objects, for example books and cushions in our Book Nook.
Within literacy, the focus has been on exploring fact files about minibeasts through both text and ICT. Within topic, we have focused on art, recreating minibeasts through playdough and junk modelling. Some excellent minibeasts were created, and the children were very proud of their work.
Class 23 have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our focus text, The Jolly Postman. The children immersed themselves in role-play activities, wrote their own postcards and letters, and investigated a range of props linked to the story during Literacy lessons, bringing the text to life in imaginative ways.
In maths, pupils have been developing their understanding of shape. They have shown great enthusiasm when exploring, sorting and arranging shapes, and have been confidently naming common 2D and 3D shapes.
During KSUW lessons, children have been learning about their local community and have designed and developed products with a clear purpose, thinking carefully about what makes something fit for use. In Art, children have been exploring the world of sound. They have investigated sounds in the environment, matched sounds to different objects, and some pupils have even created their own sound groups and compositions.
In PSHECC, pupils have been learning about personal hygiene through hands-on activities, including simple experiments, brushing model teeth, and making links to hygiene in cooking.
PE lessons have focused on preparing for Sports Day, which the children are very excited about next half term!
We are incredibly proud of all the children’s hard work, enthusiasm and progress throughout this term
